Advanced Practice Providers

  • Part 1: Your Advanced Professional Responsibility

As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), your primary responsibility is leveraging your licensure to its fullest legal potential.

    Key Legal and Practice Mandates

Autonomy and Collaboration: You must strictly follow the scope of practice defined by your state's Nurse Practice Act (NPA) (for NPs) or the relevant medical board rules (for PAs). This includes maintaining any required collaborative, supervisory, or supervisory agreements with a physician.

Medical Diagnosis and Prescribing: Your role includes the legal authority to diagnose, prescribe (including IV therapies and medications), and initiate treatment plans, provided you adhere to your state's specific regulations for APPs.

Good Faith Exam (GFE) Accountability: As a prescribing provider, you or your delegated staff are responsible for conducting a legally sufficient Good Faith Exam (GFE) before issuing any patient-specific prescription or treatment order.

Business Insurance: You are required to maintain your own unencumbered license and adequate malpractice and business liability insurance that specifically covers your autonomous or collaborative concierge practice model.
